Acatenango Volcano & Jungle Trekking

Day 1 Arrive to Guatemala – Antigua Guatemala

Meeting upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala. (1hr) the country’s original capital, declared a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979.

Day 2 Antigua Guatemala B

Today you will take a half day walking tour of Antigua. (3-4hr). the tour takes in the main square, Palace, Cathedral, La Merced Church & San Francisco Church. Free time afternoon.

Day 3 Acatenango Volcano Hike B

We depart Antigua at 8:00am in our “Trek Truck” for a comfortable one-hour drive to the Mayan village of Soledad and the Acatenango trailhead. Acatenango volcano with an elevation of 3976 meters it is the third highest volcano in Central America. This epic hike takes you to the summit of the most beautiful volcano in Guatemala with incredible views of the active Fuego volcano. The campsite looks directly over volcano.

Day 4 Summiting Acatenango B

After an early morning breakfast, hikers begin a 45-minute ascent up to Acatenango’ s summit, a steep but rewarding climb through dwarf pine trees and gravel scree that leads to the top of the world. Once on the summit, guests will find 360-degree views of Volcan Fuego, the Antigua Valley and the distant Guatemalan highlands that stretch all the way to the border of Mexico. Following approximately one-hour at the summit (depending on weather and time conditions), we begin a three-hour descent back down the volcano…arriving to La Soledad and our awaiting transportation mid-day. Groups are usually back in Antigua by early afternoon (~1:00pm), plenty of time for a celebratory beer, cappuccino or siesta…well done!

Day 5 Tikal Sunset B L

After your breakfast transfer to Guatemala City airport. Take a Flight to Flores, when arrival you will be transferred to Tikal a different visit that allows you to have another panorama of the temples of Tikal. At nightfall you can feel the jungle and enjoy the milky way.

Day 6 Las Guacamayas B L D

Exploring the Las Guacamayas Biological Station is to disconnect with Nature, an incredible place that will allow you to breathe fresh air, hike through the jungle, fish in the river and enjoy the sunset from its viewpoint.

Day 7 Las Guacamayas B L

Dawn in the jungle, it is time to continue exploring. At noon we return to Flores direct to the airport.

Day 8 Guatemala - OUT

This morning our driver will transfer guests to the airport in plenty of time to catch your international flight onwards.
